Naval blockade on Iranian ports and the Strait of Hormuz has begun
A major U.S. naval blockade on Iranian ports and the Strait of Hormuz has begun at 10 a.m. EDT, dramatically raising the stakes in the wartime standoff between Washington and Tehran.
U.S. Central Command says the blockade will cover all traffic entering and exiting Iranian ports, with warships ordered to intercept and, if necessary, destroy Iranian vessels that approach the restricted zone. Iran has condemned the move as illegal.
