A former student is accused of carrying out a knife attack at a college in Yixing, China, killing eight people and injuring 17 others on Saturday evening.
The attack, which took place at around 6:30 p.m. local time at the Wuxi Vocational Institute of Arts and Technology, was reportedly carried out by a student upset over failing an exam and being denied a graduation certificate, local Chinese police reported Saturday.

An American Airlines flight had to “perform an expedited climb” to avoid a mountain during its routine departure from Hawaii on Wednesday.
The plane, en route from Honolulu International Airport to Los Angeles International Airport, was instructed by air traffic control to “turn right and expedite your climb through terrain,” according to flight audio.
