In a new case, Nick Carter is charged with raping a young autistic admirer.
Carter has been sued by Shannon “Shay” Ruth, 39, who claims that he sexually assaulted her. She claimed that in 2001, when she was 17 years old, the Backstreet Boys member raped her during a press conference she staged alongside her attorneys via a Facebook livestream.
During the news conference, the woman stated, “The last 21 years have been filled with agony, uncertainty, anger, embarrassment, and self-harm that are a direct result of Nick Carter raping me.
“Even though I’m autistic and live with cerebral palsy, I believe that nothing has affected me more or had a more lasting impact on my life than what Nick Carter did and said to me.
I recall him calling me a “retarded b——” and grabbing me after the rape, leaving marks on my arm.
Mark J. Boskovich, the woman’s attorney, pointed out that the complaint against Carter also included the claims of three other women.
Nick Carter has a long history of mistreating women, according to Boskovich. “Shay is committed to holding Carter accountable. She thinks it is worthwhile to defend other women.”
Ruth claimed that the reason she waited so long to come forward was because she was afraid of being “thrown in jail” for the alleged sexual assault.
Carter had already been charged with sexual assault. Melissa Schuman, a pop girl group member, made a similar allegation about the musician in 2017.
At the time, Carter refuted the claim, claiming, “Melissa never hinted to me during our relationship or afterward that anything we did wasn’t mutually agreed upon. I continued to love and encourage Melissa both personally and professionally as we collaborated to record a song and perform.”
The statute of limitations had already passed at the time, thus prosecutors decided not to press charges against Carter at the time.
According to prosecutors, “the reporting party said that she was the victim of a sexual assault performed by the suspect in his flat in 2003.” “The limitation period expires in 2013. As a result, it is decided against doing a review of the evidence’s advantages and disadvantages.”
Aaron Carter, Carter’s brother, once compared Nick to Jeffrey Epstein and called him a “serial rapist” in a string of tweets. At the time, the two were at odds.
